Offensive Player of the Week
No. 7 Shawn Withy-Allen, QB - Fayetteville Guard
6'4 230 lbs Hawaii

Back to Back player of the week awards for Allen, as he guided the Guard to a win against the Maulers. The win was important for the Guard, as the clinched the second overall spot in the Atlantic Conference.
Against the Mauler, Allen completed 11 passes for 219 yards and six touchdowns. Allen is seventh in the NIFL in both passing yards per game, and total offense per game.

Defensive Team of the Week
Katy Copperheads
All teams want to end the season on a positive note, and to set 8 new NIFL records, the Copperheads did more than just end on a good note.
The Copperheads did not post much on the offensive side, other than 132 points... most of which were posted by their defense.
On the night Katy had seven interceptions, one sack, 3 fumble recoveries and 5 tackles for a loss.
Katy will look to continue their defensive dominance when they host a first round playoff game in July.

Special Teams Player of the Week
No. 6 Michael Larkin, WR - Cincinnati Marshals
5'8 175 lbs Miami (OH)

The second player to claim his second player of the week award in as many weeks.
With his impressive performance against Greensboro, Larkin set the new NIFL record for most kick returns in a year at eight.
Larkin who's single kick return of the night was a full-field return, also picked up 104 yards receiving for another four touchdowns.

WEEK FIFTEEN
Offensive Player of the Week
No. 7 Shawn Withy-Allen, QB - Fayetteville Guard

Shawn has been key to each of the Guard's twelve wins so far in the 2006 season and against divisional rivals the Charleston Sandsharks, Shawn had no problem scoring at wil.
In only 13 attempts Shawn threw for 196 yards and found the endzone four times of the nine completions made. In addition Shawn rushed three times for thirteen yards for another two touchdowns.
Congrats to Shawn and the rest of the GUARD on a great season!
Defensive Player of the Week
No. 50 Quincy Malloy, DL - Fayetteville Guard
6'0 265 lbs Methodist
The Guard have been one of the most dominant teams in the NIFL when it comes to defense. Year after year, Coach Siani puts his teams atop the defensive stats and teams into the post-season.
One of Coach Siani standout defensive players, Quincy Malloy had an impressive game helping the Guard to the best record in the Atlantic Conference.
Quincy ad five tackles to go with his 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks - which combined for a loss 34 yards.

Special Teams Player of the Week
No. 6 Michael Larkin, WR - Cincinnati Marshals

As the Marshals wrap up the 2006 regular season, every game counts as they fight for positioning within the 2006 Playoffs. An important this past weekend against Arkansas placed the Marshals in 4th place overall in the Atlantic Conference.
Key in the victory was Michael Larkin, who returned 3 kickoffs for 132 yards. Michael started the game by returning the opening kick 53 yards for a touchdown, and followed that up with return of 45 to the 6 and 34 yards to the opponent 18.

WEEK FOURTEEN
Offensive Player of the Week
No. 5 Chris Dixon, QB - Billings Outlaws
6'0 200 lbs Humboldt State

Chris Dixon had taken a pre-mature leave from the NIFL's 2006 season, as he pursued the dream of moving to the next level, but returned to Billings weeks later... and when he returned, he made everyone aware of his talent.
Dixon set a new NIFL record by accounting for 11 touchdowns against the Riversharks, en route to a 109-6 victory.
On the night Dixon complete an astonishing 89% of his pass attempts, good for 272 yards.

Defensive Player of the Week
No. 46 Travis Salter, LB - Billings Football
6'2 220 lbs Rocky Mountain College
A pattern has developed among the top rated defensive players in the NIFL - they keep winning the NIFL Player of the Week Honors. This week, Travis captures his 2nd POW title.
Travis who managed less than his averaged tackles per game against the 'Sharks (4.5), Travis more than made up in tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
Travis totaled 5 tackles that added for up to 54 loss yards! Three tackles for loss for 29 yards and two sacks for 25 yards.

Special Teams Player of the Week
No. 3 Brandon Schillinger, K - Tri Cities Fever

In a year of impressive kick returns from several teams, there have been few kickers to receive the special teams player of the week - yet alone two kickers from one team receiving recognition.
Against the Drillers the Fever's Brandon Schillinger played an important role in the 66-53 win. Ahead by two points going into the fourth quarter, the Fever knew that a point may be the difference between an L and a W.
Brandon was 7 of 8 on PAT attempts, and made his single field goal attempt of 22-yards. On the night Brandon not only accounted for 10 points, but was able to keep the Drillers on poor offensive position with great kickoff placement.

WEEK THIRTEEN
Offensive Player of the Week
No. 4 Roland Hayes, RB - Beaumont Drillers
5'11' 185 lbs Alabama A&M

The league's leading scorer (20.4 points per game) guided the Driller's to an impressive victory over Pacific Conference rival, the Wyoming Cavalry. Hayes not only was the spark plug in the Driller's offense, but led the way on special teams as well.
Hayes accounted for 7 touchdowns against the Cavalry - all seven on the ground, with one being a full field kickoff return.
Hayes is also the sixth ranked rusher in the NIFL, averaging 54.3 yards per game.

Defensive Player of the Week
No. 5 Shane Winchester, LB - Beaumont Drillers
6'2 234 lbs Southwest Oklahoma University

Shane captures his third Defensive Player of the Week award after holding off a late Cavalry charge.
Shane who is the NIFL's best tackler (avg. 7.6 per game) also leads the NIFL with 8.5 sacks.
On the night, Shane led in every defensive category excluding the pass break up category. In total Shan accounted for 13.5 total tackles, four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one interception returned for 29 yards, one pass break up, three QH and one sack for a loss of 9 yards.

In the 82-0 route of the Riversharks, the Marshals Ray Jackson led the way offensively and did so in recording setting fashion.
Jackson carried the ball twelve times for a total of 91 yards - good for a franchise best of 7.6 yards per carry. From his efforts Jackson was able to cross the goal line for four touchdowns.

Defensive Player of the Week
No. 9 Joe Bevis, LB - RiverCity Rage

With starting linebacker Terrell Washington suffering a minor injury during the first defensive play of the game for the Rage, Joe Bevis stepped up, and put on a defensive clinic.
Bevis finished the night with six solo tackles, 8 assists, 2.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks and five QH's. An impressive night that led to the Rage's 9th win of the season.
Bevis also played some RB for the Rage, rushing once for two yards and a TOUCHDOWN!

No. 3 Dan Breech, K - Cincinnati Marshals

In a quiet week for special team players, there were no spectacular returns, no records broken, but Dan Breech did have another solid week.
Dan was a perfect 8 for 8 on PAT's in the 82-0 win of the Riversharks, and averaged an impressive 52.9 yards per kickoff - with defensive support that only allowed 11.3 yards per return for the 'Sharks.

WEEK ELEVEN
Offensive Player of the Week
No. 82 MOSES REGULAR, WR - RiverCity Rage
6'4 277 lbs Missouri Valley College

In a battle between two of the Atlantic Conferences; top teams, Moses Regular, Rage wider receiver proved to be the difference maker as he caught the game winning pass as time expired.
Trailing 46-44 and without a kicker on the roster, the Rage opted to go for the win on a passing play from their 5 yard line. Regular, who hails from nearby Kissimmee, Florida, was the recipient of the toss that sealed the victory.
On the day, Regular recorded 3 Touchdown receptions, one of which was also a 4 th down play. He ended the day with 8 catches for 72 yards, but his final catch was the biggest for both he and the Rage in 2006.
Defensive Player of the Week
No. 5 Shane Winchester, LB - Beaumont Drillers
6'2 234 lbs Southwest Oklahoma University

The Beaumont Drillers star linebacker Shane Winchester continues to shine, and despite a tough loss to thier state rivals, Shane had a great defensive night.
The Drillers offense was unable to keep up with the Copperheads, but that did not stop Shane from doing what he does best - make tackles, force fumbles and sack the opposing QB.
On the night, Shane accounted for 9 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one sack for a loss of six yards.

Kickers, they get no glory and yet are responsible for so many pressure plays... make the winning kick, or in this case, make the 20-yard field goal to force overtime.
Cincy's kicker, Dan Breech is fastly becoming one of the best kickers in the NIFL. Dan made 2 of 3 field goal attempts, and converted 5 of 6 PAT attempts. Of Dan's five made PAT attempts, none was more important than the game winning PAT in overtime.

WEEK TEN
Offensive Player of the Week
JR RICHARDSON, QB - Montgomery Maulers
6'2 228 lbs Alabama State University
Back to back wins, the later of which raised the Maulers out of the basement, leads to the offensive week ten player of the week. The Maulers' are inching closer to the five-hundred mark, and QB JR Richardson is one of the main reasons.
This past week JR was 11 of 19 through the air for 207 yards, four of which converted for touchdowns. His longest of the night was a 42 yard pass to Silas Daniels.
The sixth ranked passer in the NIFL also rushed six times, picking up another two touchdowns - accounting for a total of six on the night.
In addition to averaging 139.4 yards per game through the air, JR Richardson is 8th in the NIFL for total offense, averaging 144.6 yards per game.
JR will play a key role in the remaining games for the Maulers as they look to continue their winning ways, and make it to the 2006 playoffs.

Defensive Player of the Week
TERRENCE BELL, DB - Palm Beach Phantoms
6'1 185 lbs Valdosta State University

When a teams top players play well, the team normally wins... and for the Phantoms, that meant their first win of the season. Despite not being able to host a home game through week ten, the Phantoms put that past them, and did what they had to, to win.
Against Osceola, T-Bell was a dominant defensive force ensuring his team kept momentum.. momentum which guided the Phantoms to 20 fourth quarter points, and the win.
On the night, T-Bell had a total of 9.5 tackles, one tackle for loss, one force fumble, two pass break-ups, and two interceptions for sixty two yards.
Congrats on the Phantoms first win and best of luck on the remainder on the 2006 season.

No. 24 Walter Ford, WR - Fayetteville Guard

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Walter Ford Show! If you are fortunate enough to have season tickets to the Guard, you'll know why!
After not being selected to last weeks special teams player of the week, Ford put it in another gear to reclaim the Week 10 STPOTW.
Having already clinched two special teams player of the week awards, Ford added icing to the cake that continues to grow as the season plays on. Whether it's through the air, on the ground, or on returns, Ford makes it happen.
Against the Marshals, Ford rushed for 3 yards on his single attempt, averaged close to 25 yards per catch, and nearly 42 yards per return - two returns for touchdowns.
Ford who is now second in the NIFL for All-Purpose Yards per game at 151.7 yards, is also the leader in Kick Return Yardage, at 606 yards (27.5 yards per return).
Ford is now one kick return touchdown shy of tieing the All-Time NIFL record, and less than half way to passing the all time kick return record of 1,336 yards made by AJ Street in 2002 while with the Bismarck Roughriders

WEEK NINE
Offensive Player of the Week
No. 33 Wilmont Perry, RB - Fayetteville Guard
6'3 245 lbs Livingston
The Guard not only continue to win, but continue to capture Player of the Week awards as well. This week Wilmont Perry is the offensive player of the week, the first offensive award for the Guard.
Perry was instrumental in the Guard's sixth victory of the season, proving he was to fast for the 'Sharks.
On a 2006 NIFL high 24 rush attempts, Perry accumulated 124 yards and found the end zone 6 times. That's an impressive 25% success rate for adding six points.
Not including week nine yardage, Perry is fifth in the NIFL in rushing yards per game, at 61.4 yards per game.

No. 38 Terrell Washington, LB - RiverCity Rage

In a game that started off slowly, Terrell Washington ensured that it would remain that way for the Drillers. As the Rage offensive started to put points on the board, TW continued to make defensive stop, after defensive stop.
In the battle of Divisions Leaders, Terrell Washington was the thorn in the side of the Drillers that led to the Rage holding the Beaumont squad to 105 yards of offense. Washington, a former U of Illinois star, blocked a field goal, an extra point, recorded 5 solo tackles, 3 assists, recovered a fumble, and knocked down 3 passes during the defensive battle.

No. 24 Jesus Solis, K - Tri-Cities Fever

Even though Walter Ford did not capture this weeks Special Teams Award, another number 24 did.
En route to a team record 102 points, Jesus Solis was 13 of 14 on PAT attempts, and converted his single field goal attempt - a 42 yard boot!
Jesus totaled 16 points on the night, and his 14 attempts is good for the most PAT attempts in 2006 - as was his 13 PAT attempts made.

Offensive Player of the Week
No. 12 MICHAEL LARKIN, WR - Cincinnati Marshals

The Marshal's Michael Larkin put on a receiving clinic against the Palm Beach Phantoms, as the Cincinnati won 47-44.
Although it was a 40-yard winning field by Dan Breech, Larkin kept Cincy in the game, accounting for three touchdowns.
larkin caught nine passes for 128 yards - good for two touchdowns. Along with receiving duties, Larkin returned two kickoffs for 83 yards, one of which being a full field return good for six points.
Larkin has moved up to seventh in the NIFL in receiving yards per game, averaging 64.8 yards per game and is fifth in receptions per game, averaging 5.2 receptions per game.

Defensive Player of the Week
No. 4 Kailan Williams, SS/LB - Katy Copperheads

The Copperheads Kailan Williams had an impressive game against Big Sky, as he not only led the game in tackles, but also had two touchdowns as well.
Williams had 7 solo tackles and assisted on 2 others - for a total of 8 tackles. In addition, he recovered and returned a fumble 13 yards for a touchdown and blocked, then returned a field goal, for another touchdown. Both scores came in the third quarter, accounting for 12 of 28 points scored by Katy.
Williams also recorded two and a half tackles for a loss, for a total of five yards, and had two sacks, for a total of -4 yards.
Kailan Williams is fifth in the NIFL in tackles per game, averaging 6.3 per game after eight weeks, seventh in total sacks with 5.0 and sixth in tackles for loss with a total of 8.5.

No. 24 Walter Ford, WR - Fayetteville Guard

It was another spectacular week for Walter Ford of the Fayetteville Guard, as he captures his second Special Teams Player of the Week Award in a row.
Despite the Guard suffering their first loss of the season, Ford was unstoppable, amassing a total of 243 total yards.
Ford who ranks third in the NIFL in Kick Return average (24.2 yards per return) returned nine kickoffs against the Thunderbolts for a total 152 yards. Ford also had seven receptions for 97 yards - two of which were for touchdowns.
Walter continues to rack up yardage against even the best teams, placing him sixth in the NIFL in All Purpose yards. After eight weeks of play (5 games played) Ford has 156 yards receiving, 37 MFG return yards and 436 KR yards, for a total of 638 yards (127.6 yard per game).

Offensive Player of the Week
No. 7 ALBERT HIGGS, QB - Rapid City Flying Aces

When you have the number one offense in the NIFL, it's hard to over look the dominant players that make it happen. Albert Higgs, the Quarterback for the Rapid City Flying Aces knows the indoor game, and last weekend it showed.
Higgs was 12 of 23 passing and accounted for six of the Aces touchdowns, the longest being a 40 yard connection to JR Wells.
As previously mentioned, Higgs is part of the NIFL best offense, sitting atop a majority offensive categories. Individually, Higgs is third in the NIFL Passing Yards per game and fourth in total offense.
Defensive Player of the Week
No. 11 AL WILSON, LB - Fayetteville Guard
5'11 230 lbs Elizabeth CIty
Defense wins games, it's an old cliche that stands true with the Guard. One of the key forces on Fayetteville's defense, is No. 11 Al Wilson.
Although he is 31st in the NIFL for total tackles per game, Al is also a dominate pass rusher, as shown against Osceola, as he acquired 1.5 sacks for a loss of six yards.
Having been part of four of Fayetteville's first five wins, Al is second on the team in tackles, and is sure to play a part in success and playoff run in 2006.

Special Teams Player of the Week
No. 24 Walter Ford, WR - Fayetteville Guard

For the second week in a row, two members of the same team have captured the defensive and special teams player of the week.
This week, Walter Ford, an offensive specialist for the Guard, is recognized for his ability to return the ball on kickoffs.
Walter returned one missed field goal for 24 yards, and 4 kickoff returns for 148 yards, for a total of 172. His longest return was a full field return, good for his second kick return touchdown of the season.
Walter is first in the NIFL with an impressive 31.6 yards per kick return, and is second having returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.

WEEK SIX
Offensive Player of the Week
No. 88 EDWIN REED, WR - Rapid City Flying Aces
6'2 205 lbs
The Copperheads had no answer defensively for Edwin Reed, as he averaged 24.2 yards per catch.
Even more impressive, he averaged a touchdown per catch! Not one catch for one touchdown, or two for two - Reed caught six passes for six touchdowns as the Rapid City Flying Aces routed the Katy Copperheads, 84-44, for the their fifth win of the season.
Reed also caught one pass from QB Higgs for a 2-point PAT, which gave Reed a total of 38 points on the night - currently tied 1st in the NIFL for Individual Points Scored in a single game. Reed is also tied with another NIFL Receiver, Hurtis Chinn, for touchdowns in a game, at six.
Reed has only played three games with the Aces, but is fast becoming one of main offensive targets, averaging 74.0 yards receiving per game, with nine TD's on the season.

Defensive Player of the Week
No. 46 TRAVIS SALTER, LB - Billings Football
6'2 220 lbs Rocky Mountain College
Linebacker Travis Salter continues to shine for Billings, and played a key role in the win against the RiverCity Rage as he was half a tackle shy from tieing his 2006 best.
Travis led the game with 12.0 tackles, 10 solo and 4 assisted, while assisting on a sack and tackle for a loss. His presence throughout the game kept Billings on top, and helped shutout the Rage in the fourth quarter.
Travis is tied at second in the league for tackles per game, averaging 7.5, and is tied for most tackles in a single game in 2006, at 12.5.
Salter is no stranger to being recognized for his efforts on the field, having been selected as a player of the week while at Rocky Mountain College. Travis was also a two time All- American (2000, 2001) and was an Honorable Mention in 2002.

Special Teams Player of the Week
No. 8 Pete Garces, K - Billings Football
6'3 210 lbs Idaho State University
It was only time before the two-time All-American from ISU was recognized for his kicking abilities in the NIFL.
Against the Rage, Garces was a perfect nine for nine on PAT attempts; his third perfect game of the year. Garces was nearly perfect on kickoffs, averaging 49.6 yards on 10 kickoffs, which included two touchbacks. Billings' special teams supported Garces' great kicks, by allowing an average of only 15.6 yards per kick-return.
On the year, Garces is 35 of 39 on PAT attempts, which is currently third in the NIFL for PAT Percentage at 89.7 %. Garces is also 2nd in the league in scoring (kick) averaging 7.6 points per game, and is the fourth leading scorer for BIllings, at 38 points.
Like team mate Travis Salter, Pete Garces is no stranger to success. Garces holds the NIFL record for longest field made, having made two from 61 yards in 2005. Garces also set the following records while at Idaho State University:

Offensive Player of the Week
No. 17 5 ANTONIO DAVIS, QB - Dayton Bulldogs

Antonio Davis put together quite a performance against division rivals, the Cincinnati Marshals this past weekend.
After a loss one week earlier to the Marshals, Davis led his team to a 52 - 34 victory in week 5, by throwing for 227 yards, and accounting for 4 touchdowns through the air.

Defensive Player of the Week
No. 52 SHANE WINCHESTER, LB/DE- Beaumont Drillers
6'22 234 lbs Southwest Oklahoma University
Shane Winchester is one of the best defensive players in the NIFL. At 6'2 and 234lbs, Shane has the power to break through the line and the speed to pursue to make the tackle.
Against the Twin City Gator's in Week 5, Shane had a game high 11.5 tackles, and added 2.5 tackles for loss along with 2.0 sacks for a combined loss of six yards.
After this impressive showing, Shane is back atop the NIFL statistical leader board, in both sacks and tackles per game; averaging 1.25 and 8.9 respectively.

No. 1 BILLY BACK, WR - Cincinnati Marshals

Billy Back did his part against the Bulldogs, unfortunately the Marshals came up short in week five.
Back had more kick return yardage, then the Bulldogs combined, and returned one the full length for a touchdown. Back had three receptions for 45 yards, which included one of 32 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Back is currently fourth in the NIFL for kick-return yardage, averaging close to 24 yards per return for each of his 15 attempts.

Co-Offensive Players of the Week

Billings put on an offensive display last Saturday, and two of the 22 men responsible, were Quarterback Chris Dixon and Offensive Specialist Robert Reed.
Chris was an impressive 21 of 28 in the air for a 2006 NIFL game high 331 yards. Of his ten touchdown passes, half of them (5) were throw to Robert Reed, including the longest on the night, a 44-yard connection. This performance vaulted Chris to the top of the NIFL Passing Yards per Game category, after week four, averaging close to 226 yards per game.

With an average of 21 yards per catch, Robert Reed was simply unstoppable. Catching a total of nine passes, he accounted for five touchdowns, from 18, 24, 25, 25 and 44 yards. Like team mate Chris Dixon, this performance helped Robert climb several league statistical categories, including a current 2nd in Receiving yards per game - at 112.3 yards per game.

In a victory against the 2005 NIFL Champion Tri-Cities Fever, Jerry Jones led the way defensively for the Cavalry.
Jones had 9.5 total tackles, 7 unassisted, 5 assisted and had interception which he returned for 9 yards. Jones also accounted for a pass break up. Currently, Jerry Jones is first in the NIFL for tackles by a defensive back, averaging 6.2 per game and 9th overall for tackles per game

Special Teams Player of the Week
No. 24 WALTER FORD, WR - Fayetteville
5'11 180lbs VA TECH
There is nothing like taking the wind out of an opponents sail by returning a kick for a touchdown, and that is just what No. 24 Walter Ford did against Osceola last weekend.
On the night, Ford returned one field goal attempt for 17 yards, and 4 kickoffs for a total of 123 yards; including the full field return for a touchdown. In addition, Ford caught four passes for 44 yards, the longest being 24 yards. Ford's performance was key in the Guard's win against Osceola, placing his team in excellent starting position each offensive possession.

No. 1 HURTIS CHINN, WR
RiverCity Rage
Chinn led all receivers with 9 catches for 129 yards including 6 touchdowns coming on catches of 3, 2, 8, 42, 8, and 19 yards respectively. Chinn also added 1 rush for 11 yards and 1 kickoff return for 20 yards giving him 160 all purpose yards as the Rage rolled Cincinnati 76-34.
Chinn leads the NIFL after the third week, in receptions per game with 8.5 and yards per game average, with 134.5 yards. The speedster from Western New Mexico also is first in the NIFL scoring, with a total of 60 points after only two games.

Travis continues to be a dominant force in the NIFL leading week three action with 12.5 tackles, and 3.5 tackles for loss. Travis also blocked one PAT, however, his defensive presence was not enough for Billings to defeat the defending champions Tri-Cities Fever.
Travis is currently third in the NIFL in tackles, with 23 total tackles.

Wyoming Cavalry
JR had a great night against the expansion Big Sky Thunder, returning 4 kickoffs for a total of 151 yards - 3 for touchdowns, one of which was for 50 yards. The other two touchdowns came on returns of 45 and 44 yards each.
JR also recovered and returned a fumble 33 yards to account for another 6 of Wyoming's total 86 points.
